Study Name

Study Description

Patient Enrollment Phase

ATLAS TIMI 46

To evaluate the safety and effectivness of Rivaroxaban in combination with standard care therapy of Aspirin and plavix to reduce clinical events in patients with unstable angina and acute myocardial infarction

Champion Platform

Study compares Cangrelor (in combination with usual care) to usual care, in subjects who require balloon angioplasty or coronary stenting.

CORAL

To Assess the Best Treatment for Patients with High Blood Pressure and Renal Artery Stenosis:  Stenting with Anti-Hypertensive Medical Therapy, Compared to Medical Therapy Alone

Perseus Workhorse

Determine the safety and effectiveness of the TAXUSÒ ElementÔ Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stent in comparison to the TAXUSÒ ExpressÔ Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stent in the treatment of coronary artery disease.

Perseus Small Vessel

To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the TAXUSÒ ElementÔ Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stent for the treatment of small coronary arteries.

Spirit III

Determines the safety and effectiveness of  the Xience, cobalt chromium stent coated with Everolimus for the treatment of large coronary arteries.

Spirit IV

A Clinical Evaluation of the XIENCE™ V Everolimus Eluting Coronary Stent System in the Treatment of coronary artery disease.

Patient Follow-Up Phase

CoStar II

Evaluates the safety and effectiveness of the COSTAR™ Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stent in comparison to TAXUS Express2™ Paclitaxel-Eluting Coronary Stent in the treatment of single– or multi-vessel coronary artery disease

Endeavor IV

Evaluates the safety and effectiveness of the Endeavor Stent, a cobalt-chromium stent with the drug zotarolimus in comparison to the Taxus™ Paclitaxel-eluting Coronary Stent in the treatment of single vessel disease.

HORIZON

Harmonizing Outcomes with RevascularIZatiON and Stents in Acute Myocardial Infarction.  Comparison study of  Drug Eluting Stents versus Bare Metal Stents in patients presenting with an acute MI

Jupiter

Determines if elevated C-reactive proteins levels are an additional risk factor to be considered in determination of coronary disease risk.

STRADIVARIUS

Evaluates effect of a new drug rimonobant vs placebo on the progression of coronary artery disease as assessed by IVUS

SYMBIOT III

Examines a new stent with a sock like covering that may reduce recurrent blockage

SYNTAX

Determines if treatment with drug eluting stents, specifically the Taxus™ Express2 Paclitaxel-eluting stent is as effective as heart surgery in subjects three vessel disease or left main disease.

Patient Follow-Up Phase

TAXUS ATLAS

Evaluates new Liberte stent (paclitaxel coated) for treatment of blockages in a coronary artery

TAXUS ATLAS DIRECT STENT

Evaluates new Liberte™ stent (paclitaxel coated) for treatment of blockages with primary stenting in a coronary artery to reduce instances of re-stenosis

TAXUS ATLAS LONG LESION

Evaluates new Liberte™ stent (paclitaxel coated) for treatment of extra long coronary artery blockage to reduce instances of re-stenosis

TAXUS ATLAS SMALL VESSEL

Evaluates new Liberte™ stent (paclitaxel coated) for treatment of blockages in a small coronary artery to reduce instances of re-stenosis

TAXUS V

Studies the ability of a paclitaxel coated stent  to prevent recurrent artery blockages

TAXUS V ISR

Evaluates Drug coated paclitaxel stent vs radiation therapy for blockages in previously placed stents

Zomaxx II

The ZoMaxx™ Drug Eluting Coronary Stent System will be evaluated in comparison to the Taxus™ Express2 Paclitaxel-eluting stent  in the prevention of  the re-narrowing of the coronary artery.

Recently Completed Studies

ASTEROID

Considered the effect of Crestor (cholesterol lowering medication) on shrinking coronary artery disease.  This study determined Crestor was effective in reducing the amount disease in the coronary arteries.

CHARISMA

Compared the benefits of low does aspirin plus plavix with patients taking only low dose aspirin.  This study determined chronic treatment with plavix was not beneficial in high risk patients.

CLIP

Compared the arterial closure device StarClose versus manual compression after cardiac catheterization.  Clip device received FDA approval

CRT RENEWAL

Compared the patient’s self evaluation of quality of life before and after biventricular pacing.  Results are still pending

DELIVER

Assessed whether a drug coated stent (paxitaxel) can decrease the rate that blockages recur in arteries

FACTOR

Studied the ability of the CROSSER device to facilitate crossing the total blockage in a coronary artery using high frequency waves and mechanical force

PFIZER IVUS

Compared the effect of Atorvastatin with or without Torceptipib, in patients with Coronary Heart Disease.

TAXUS IV

Compares the Express2 stent, with or without paclitaxel, to prevent recurrent artery blockages
